Moffatt & Nichol had long wanted to offer the option of working from home. They also realized the strategic benefit of being able to hire the very best talent for their projects, but they were largely limited to hiring within commute proximity to one of their 35 offices. They explored various remote work solutions, but particularly for its CAD power users, VPN and legacy VDI failed to meet their performance requirements. Even if they had been willing to compromise on app performance, they determined that VDI would be overly complicated to maintain.
